I have a deep passion for building communities—spaces where people don’t just gather, but grow through meaningful connection. There’s something incredibly powerful about watching relationships form, deepen, and flourish within a community. I love helping create the context and opportunities where trust, belonging, and transformation can take root.
Over the years, I’ve learned how crucial community is in who we become and who we are becoming–and more personally, in who I am and who I am becoming.
James Clear, in Atomic Habits, writes, “The people with whom we surround ourselves have a profound influence on our behavior. One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where your desired behavior is the normal behavior.” When we immerse ourselves in communities aligned with who we want to become, we accelerate the process of personal transformation.
According to behavior scientist Dr. B.J. Fogg, lasting transformation happens not just when we change what we do, but when we shift who we believe we are. And identity is often formed in the mirror of relationship. Community reflects back to us who we are—and who we have the potential to be.
Healthy community creates an almost sacred space between safety and challenge, belonging and growth, where identity expands and purpose takes root.
The people we choose to walk with, whether intentionally or unintentionally, shape who we become more than almost anything else. But when we are intentional about building meaningful community, we create an environment where everyone, including ourselves, has a greater chance to become more. More courageous. More conscious. More whole. More (fill in the blank).
When you imagine your ideal community:
- What does it feel like to be part of it?
- What are the values, habits, and rhythms that define it?
- How does it help you grow into the person you’re becoming?
- And most importantly, what are you doing—today—to help build it?
Because community doesn’t just happen. We create it. And in doing so, we re-create ourselves.
